There's this new local community connection website, especially for moms in this area. We were recently featured in an article about our muraling business! We just thought it was kind of cool. Here's the main body of the article:
Burbmom.net is thrilled to introduce you to an exciting team of artistic talent, blossoming right here in our ‘burb. Aimee Stratton and Ashley Rasmussen, both residents of Flower Mound, are combining their talents to provide custom murals to homes and businesses in the surrounding areas.
Aimee and Ashley have been friends since they met in the summer of 2006 and have always had a love of art in common. Like many stay at home moms, Aimee and Ashley’s talents have been laying dormant for years as they have worked to raise their children.
This summer (2008), they decided to paint a mural together in one of their own homes. They quickly discovered how well their artistic styles blended and complemented one another. They decided that this was a way to pursue their artistic passions without detracting too much time from their family lives. That is how Wallscapes, custom murals was born.
I was thrilled to have these ladies work on my son’s bedroom. He loves having Spiderman hanging from his ceiling. Aimee & Ashley did a phenomenal job on the piece in my house.

Add a Wallscapes button to your Blog!
If you like our site, we'd love for you to put the following button link on your Blog.
Go to the Layout tab and click on "add a gadget." Then select "Picture" from the blogger Basics gadgets. Add whatever Title and Caption you would like. Then copy and paste the following in to the field that says "link":
Next copy and paste the following link into the "Image from the web" field:
(If this does not work, you can right click the above image and save it to your desktop. Then select the "Image from Computer" field, click "browse" and retrieve the wallscapesbutton.jpg file from your desktop.)
Press "Save" and then "Save" again on your layout page.

Pricing Policy
There are three ways to figure out pricing for murals*.
1. Per square foot. (Industry standard is usually about $10-$30 per square foot, depending on the level of detail. Can go as high as $150 per square foot for the pricier artists.)
2. Hourly Rate. (Industry standard is usually around $45-$85 per man hour. Very experienced artists may charge $100 per hour. Some beginning artists might go as low as $30 per hour while building their portfolio.)
3. Contract Rate. (The two parties agree ahead of time on a price for a particular job. Pricing usually takes into account the either the time or square footage of the project)
We are open to any of these methods of pricing, however we generally use the contract rate over the hourly rate. This way you don't have to worry that we are not working as fast as we possibly can just to squeeze out a few extra bucks (We have that worry as much as you do anytime we call an hourly wage plumber--am I right???) The square footage method works well in some situations where an entire wall is being used, but that is not always practical, so here's how it usually works...
After you give us an idea of what you want on your wall, we'll come up with a sketch and a time estimate of how long it will take us to paint it. From that we will come to an agreement on a price for the job. The hourly rate that we generally use to figure out our estimate is $40 per hour. This price includes all of our paint and supplies. We truly can work with virtually any budget by simply changing the complexity of the mural. When we agree to do a painting, we will make it look good-no matter what your pricing restraints. We won't put our name on anything that doesn't look good.
Once we agree on a price, that is all that you owe. If we go over our time estimate you do not owe any extra--that's our problem not yours. The only exception to this would be if you add additional elements part way through a job. In this case we would discuss any additional charges before adding those elements.
We do not charge for our time spent beforehand sketching/coming up with the design, or if we take breaks during the job for any reason--only actual painting time. A lot of artists also add a ladder fee, but we waive that in a room with average height walls (~8 or 9 ft.) High walls and ceiling work will incur an additional charge because of the additional physical demands that those jobs entail.
